" Amelia Gafarova, 8 years old Diagnosis: Down syndrome, signs of autism The girl was born at 41 weeks with Down syndrome, which came as a surprise to doctors and parents, at 5 months she underwent open-heart surgery to correct a congenital heart defect. Amelia said her first words at the age of 1 year and 7 months, and then she began to walk. Now she is attending a correctional kindergarten. At the age of 4, Amelia and her parents came to classes at the Markhamat Child Development Center, where they developed an individual program for the girl - and she began to make progress. Thanks to her studies, the girl speaks in simple sentences, learns to read, while mathematics and writing are the most difficult for her. To maintain her existing skills, Amelia needs constant training with a speech therapist, speech pathologist, psychologist and music specialist. If we raise 10,000 rubles for Amelia, she will be able to study at the Child Development Center for free in the fall. View more >>
